This is an English-language description of the Greek system of commercial and economic law. An overview is given of the geographical, social and political structure, with a summary of the economic and legal systems of Greece. Greek commercial and economic law is then examined in detail. The concepts, sources and economic operators and institutions are outlined, with a chapter on business assets, goodwill and commercial property rights. The latter includes, trademarks, copyright and protection of information. Bankruptcy, stock and commodity exchanges, and commercial contracts and securities are also dealt with. The book then examines economic law, outlining the legal principles guiding this area of law, especially trade regulations, competition law and consumer protection. Particular attention is paid to the role of the state in its intervention in economic conditions.
