The 'Health Service Governance' module is part of the Chartered Secretaries Qualifying Scheme and can be taken as an option in place of 'Corporate Governance'. The module is for those acting as secretaries to the board within trusts or other NHS organisations. It covers the development of governance in the health service context, the codes of conduct and laws which apply to the NHS, the practical aspects of boardroom and governance practice, risk management and internal control. The CSQS texts produced by ICSA cover the full syllabus for each module and are clearly structured to help in planning a programme of study. Learning outcomes whcih are linked to the syllabus are presented for each part, and each chapter follows a standard format. The texts also include a range of features to encourage active learning and to help students to apply principles and theory to real-life business situations.
