The effect of European integration on law and the effect of law on European integration, is the key topic of this book. The development of the ""Europeanization"" of law is explored, not in the simplistic terms of the dissolution of national cultures in the European melting-pot, but as a complex phenomenon which operates on a number of levels.
The question of whether law makes or characterizes states is addressed, and how, with the development of a European law, reshaping of member states and their relationship with eachother and with European institutions is unavoidable. European Community Law, the European Court, and its power to prevail over national law in the event of conflict is discussed, as are the themes and principles of European law, in particular economic law.
