Bennion, Bailey and Norbury on Statutory Interpretation is the leading work on statutory interpretation. It provides a clear and comprehensive guide to understanding, interpreting and applying legislation. Regularly used by practitioners and academics, and frequently cited in judgments throughout the common law world, it is a trusted and authoritative resource.
This 2nd supplement relates to the Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Act 2023, and its effect on domestic legislation. The main changes made by the Act on domestic law apply from the end of 2023/beginning of 2024. This supplement is intended to help readers to understand the effect of that Act before those changes take effect.
The supplement is in two parts - the first part is freestanding text, describing the effect of the Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Act 2023. In that text, and reference to a provision of the Code is to a provision of the Code in the 8th edition of Bennion. The second part updates the 8th edition to take account of the Act.
