This book describes the history, present status and possible future models of clinical legal education (CLE) in 12 Asian jurisdictions: China, Hong Kong, India, Palestine, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, Israel, Japan, Taiwan, Maldives, and South Korea. Contributors use case studies from each country to show that while CLE in Asia could initially have been described as an Anglo-Western style of legal education teaching, it has evolved past that framework. While it remains in an early development stage, CLE throughout Asia has both incorporated the core values established by traditional Western legal education theorists and developed its own Asian characteristics. Conclusions drawn from this important research have great utility for those involved with legal clinics across the globe.
