The Information and Consultation Regulations are due to come into force on 6 April 2005. They will give employees new rights to be consulted about important decisions that affect their jobs in organisation with 150 or more employees
This special bulletin explains the basic statutory requirements, looks in detail at the position of companies with and without pre-existing information and consultation agreements, compliance and enforcement, and restrictions on contracting out. It also considers the circumstances in which employers may restrict or withhold confidential information or documents, together with the protection afforded to employees from dismissal and selection for redundancy for taking action in connection with rights under the regulations.
