In recent years, professional partnerships have become increasingly concerned with the number of actions brought against them for negligence and at the level of damages awarded. Where such claims exceed the level of cover provided for by the firm's professional indemnity insurance, the personal assets of the partners themselves are placed at risk. This work explores the two principal methods by which partnerships can seek to limit their exposure to this threat, which are either to incorporate or to register offshore as a limited partnership, either in Jersey or the Isle of Man. The book also contains a chapter on the experience of partnerships in the US which have pursued a similar course of action by registering as limited partnerships in Delaware.
