There is a growing realization among members of the Commonwealth of Nations that the holding of free and fair elections is central to democratization. As a result, many have reviewed their constitution and election laws and others are doing so.
Volume 1, Part 1 of this compendium (published in 1996) presents the relevant constitutional provisions and election laws of a number of selected Commonwealth countries, and Volume One, Part 2 (published in 1998) covers election cases of note and interest around the Commonwealth, and includes an index to both parts of Volume 1.
This is the first part of Volume 2. Volume 2 (Parts 1 and 2) deals with actual election cases arranged according to the following themes: election management bodies; electoral boundaries; registration of voters; nomination of candidates; voting; election irregularities; political parties; election expenses; and the media. Each of the two parts of Volume 2 contains five themes.
