The Roman Law of Slavery: The Conditions of the Slave in Primitive Law from Augustus to Justinian
There is hardly and problem in any branch of Roman Law, the solution of which may not be affrected by the fact that one of the parties is a slave, and outside the region of procedure, there are few branches of the law in which the salve does not prominently appear.
This book was the first comprehensive study of the Roman law of slavery when it was first published in 1908. It is still the standard work.
