In Part 1 the reader is introduced to the intricacies of the law of criminal procedure, while Part 2 contains a detailed explanation of criminal procedure, with reference back to the case of the young man charged with a crime, illustrating the rules described. Part 3 deals with the sentencing options of the various courts and Part 4 covers the relevant statutes.
The third edition has been updated throughout in the light of recent developemnts in case and statute law, including the effects of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, the Magistrates' Courts Act 1980, the Legal Aid Act 1980, the Administration of Justice Act 1985 and the Criminal Justice Bill 1987. The author has also dealt fully with the new guidelines on procedures, revised rules on contempt of court and on bail.
