These tables are designed to assist the courts to arrive at suitable sums for damages in a range of possible situations in personal injury and fatal accident cases. They are also known as the 'Ogden Tables' after Sir Michael Ogden, QC - the original working party chairman.
This Sixth Edition is the result of the Law Commission's recommendation that the Working Party should be reconvened to 'consider and more fully explain' how the tables should be used or amended, to produce accurate assessment of damages in Fatal Accident Act cases (as opposed to personal injury cases).
