Lord Advocate is the highest position that a barrister can hold in Scotland - he is the principal law officer of the Crown in Scotland. Lord Stott served in this capacity during the 1960s and, in the course of a busy professional life, found time to keep a daily record of what went on in court.
What Lord Cockburn in his Memorials and Circuit Journeys did so memorably for Scotland a century ago, Lord Stott has sought to do for the Scotland of the 1960s.
