By describing the different aspects of agency law, he gives the reader an overall picture of its nature, functions and obligations, and thus shows how the relationship of principal and agent can supplement and extend the other legal liaisons arising from contracts, owner¬ship of property etc.

Topics treated in detail include torts, criminal, constitutional and company law, partnership and negotiable instruments. The book also provides an excellent commentary on estate agents' commissions, extremely useful to-day when this question arises so frequently.

While the general plan of the previous edition has been followed, for the new Fridman the contents have been brought fully up to date; and as a result of extensive research among his students into ways in which the book might be made more helpful, the author has revised and rewritten several chapters and introduced some important new cases.
