The law of evidence is among tre more difficult subjects read by students and Phipson especially under the lively and sympathetic hand of the current Editor, maintains its established place as a leading textbook in the teaching of this subject.
For the legal practitioner, and for others, including the police, often brought suddenly and acutely into contact with the practical problems of the law of evidence, Phipson is an invaluable handbook and guide. This new edition, published in paperback and in bound form, will be welcomed by all.
The improvements begun in the previous edition, which were favourably received by reviewers and readers, have been continued in this. Important sections of the book have been completely rewritten; these include those dealing with Judical Notice, Presumptions, Character, Public Policy, Hearsay, Confessions and Examination, and Witnesses.Developments in all fields, however, have been numerous since the last edition, and much work has, therefore, had to be done to bring the whole book up to date. The Editor's object throughout has been to encourage a better understanding of the modern law, and a retentive grasp of it, by clear, concise, explanation of the principles of law, the statutes and the cases.
Evidence is a vital part of the law - the student must master it. A good book is a necessity and the latest edition of Phipson is such a book. It is readable, well indexed, and contains all the essential facts.
