Foreword... I enjoyed my stay at Gibson & Weldon, and have always looked back on the firm with affection and respect. We were sometimes described as "crammers," but I have always thought that this was a most unfair criticism because I was much impressed by the fact that even the very best of our candidates always seemed to be appreciative of the efforts which we made for them.
In my time with G. & W. I must have lectured to about two thousand potential solicitors, to say nothing of potential members of the Bar, and I have found in the last twenty-five years that there is hardly any place to which I can go in the world where I do not find somebody who was a former student of Gibson & Weldon in my time. They all speak of the old firm with affection, and I find these contacts extremely pleasant. The Right Hon. Lord Widgery, P.C., O.B.E.
