The preparation of this edition has been in the hands of new Editors. To them has been entrusted the labour of examining the Precedents in detail and of bringing the text into line with modern require¬ments. Theirs has been no patchwork editing-they have expunged obsolete matters, rewritten much, and reorganised the text in orderly fashion.

Their work has been thorough in the extreme. Not only have they cited over 700 new English, Scottish and Irish cases, but they have also added notes and references to more than 750 decisions of the Courts of Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa and other Commonwealth countries whose company law is derived wholly or in part from England and Scotland.

This seventeenth edition of Palmer has been refurbished from top to toe=and in appearance too. A new type has been selected to assist the eye and the Forms are now printed in larger type than the editorial text-a logical step in a book of Precedents.

In its seventeenth edition Palmer's Company Precedents worthily celebrates the centenary of the formation of the joint stock company.
