Peter Wildeblood was born at Alassio, Italy, in 1923. He joined the R.A.F. at the age of 18 and spent the remainder of the war as a meteorologist in Northern and Southern Rhodesia, returning in 1945 to take up a scholarship at Trinity College, Oxford, where he read French language and literature.

Later, he worked as a waiter in a London hotel and wrote a play, Primrose and the Peanuts. In 1948 he joined the staff of the Daily Mail as a reporter. He was arrested in January 1954 and sentenced at Winchester Assizes to 18 months' imprisonment for homosexual offences.

He was released in March 1955. Since then he has lectured to a number of organizations on the laws relating to homosexuality, has given evidence to the Departmental Committee set up by the Government to enquire into the subject, and contributed to numerous periodicals. His second book, A Way of Life, was published in November 1956.
