Proportionality is now firmly established at the heart of civil litigation, and the court’s case management function is a central part of that, controlling, or at least guiding, the parties’ journey from statements of case to trial.  Irrespective of the subject matter in dispute, core methods and principles apply.

This book considers the purpose and inter-relationship of each of the various stages, identifying the necessities and the pitfalls so that anybody engaged in litigation, whether lawyer, file handler or litigant-in-person, has a real understanding of the procedural issues, and problems, which might arise.  It provides a genuine touchstone for anybody involved in Case Management, serving to remind them of what they are doing and why.
